I picked this up last month and I'm very happy with it. I was a bit nervous because the auction pictures weren't great. The color as shown is accurate--bronze toning with underlying luster that's hard to capture in the photos. This will probably end up going to PCGS. Grading thoughts?

Tough call without seeing the coin in hand. I'll say AU-58.

The toning does mute the fields, but I'm seeing minimal marks. Not seeing any signs of wear. The scattered die polishing marks on the reverse are a bit distracting to me, but overall I like it! I'm with Grape at MS-64.

I like it at MS-63. A very attractive seated 'CC' two bit piece!

It is a beautiful example but I think the obverse holds it to AU58 but on a good grading day it could pull a 62. Keep us posted.

Looks quite nice and MS63 sounds fair. The light abrasions below the eagles head might be a concern.

No worse than AU-58. I don't see any wear but the photos don't show whether luster is present. A mint state grade would require original luster over the fields and devices. If luster is intact under the toning then MS-63 seems very possible. It's a very attractive coin.

Thanks everyone. It was a tough coin to photograph and show the luster because of the heavy toning, but there definitely is quite a bit of luster under the toning. I don't see any signs of wear in hand, and I'm pretty sure it will come back mint state. There are also very few marks of significance, so I'm hoping it's on the higher end of the range everyone suggested. I'll certainly update here when it gets graded, but it might be a while before I send it in.

Absolutely stunning coin and color, I'll say an easy straight grade of MS-65 on this.
