Yep that's a good idea. It seems every time I log onto this site something new is submitted. So there I go back through the coins again.

Check out coppercoins.com/ to see what is listed for those years, but keep in mind all the different types of doubling to watch out for. They can appear on other years. This doubling was reported on a 2004 Cent.

I found the same doubling on a 2002-D Cent. So get familiar with what the coins may have and search all years to see if you can find the same doubling. By looking at certain years for what is know, you may be missing the first examples of a new find. So treat all years of Zincoln's the same. Look for all the know example of doubling found.
Doubled EPU
Doubled Columns
Wavy Steps
Trails
Doubled LIBERTY and Date
Doubled ears
Probably more I'm even missing. But check them all for the different that are found from all 1986-2008 Zincolns. You may be surprised at what you may find.

Well, for 'errors' there really isn't much of a list because since they are coin to coin we never know what could pop up. I might mention a 2004P clipped planchet and be talking about something for which there is only one out there...or I might miss the 1,500 2005P clips that could be out there. Errors are so hit and miss there's no way to make a plausible list of 'what to look for'. This is one of the many reasons why 'errors' and 'die varieties' are two completely different things and have to be kept separate in conversation.

As for die varieties, the only things known that I can think of right off are a host of very minor dies for each and every one of those years, all searchable on coppercoins.com - but for the highlights reel, I would mention a very strong 2004P DDR and a very strong 2006P DDO. Honorable mention goes to a 2006P DDO with a doubled earlobe. These, however, do not include what 'could' be out there that nobody has found to date. Looking ONLY for those dies that have already been located could cause you to miss something for which you could be the discoverer and get your name in the lights.

Best rule - know what all of this looks like and check everything.

Chuck is right. Search every cent. Once you get a rhythm going you will automatically check all the design devices on every coin. Knowing there are eyelids, trails, columns, notches, separation, ears and other stuff that makes varieties out of recent dates, you will be amazed at how many you see. It isn't too time consuming. I can do approx 5 rolls per hour under the scope, I use cool
whip bowls and divide a bag into six bowls. I don't feel overwhelmed that way.
I do a bag a week, mostly in the evenings, some early mornings, whenever. Search
every coin.
Move right along, watch and listen to TV, glance out the window, don't get bored.
