60 to 63 would be my guesstimate. Nice coin!

That's a nice variety! Quite strong RPM.

I understand most Buffalo nickels have a soft strike? Because this nickel has somewhat of a "clay" character to it.

Nice looking coin but isn't there wear/broken luster on the back hip? I got it at 58

That area may not have been fully struck. Based on the luster, I'd hope for 63.

This is a tough one to grade from the photos. The coin appears to have been dipped, and there is a lot of flashback. I played with the images by reducing lighting (a lot) and enhancing color and contrast. Here are the adjusted photos: Overall, it is a weak strike for the date, with MDS obverse and LDS reverse dies. Eye appeal is so-so for the date and mint, but darned nice for the variety. The discoloration on the Indian's cheek and high points in the hair above the knot, along with the rim dings, suggest circulation. Assuming this is UNC, IMHO the number and locations of the contact marks would probably cap this one at MS-62. This is an "it depends" deal. If it's a cherrypick, what's to lose? If it is being sold as an FS-501, there's about a $50-$75 swing between AU-58 and MS-62. If it's priced right, it's a really decent example. (FWIW, the one in my personal collection is a generic VF-30.)
