Those Ryedale copper miners are changing things considerably. At the rate they're going through pennies, it won't take long. I'm still getting halfway decent amounts of copper but on ebay you can see some of them selling thousands of pounds stacked on pallets. Oregon coin geek.....*** GO BEAVS ! ! ! ***

I think it will be around another 10 years or so before copper pennies really become scarce in circulation. I don't really hoard the copper pennies anymore, but I still find a good amount of them in machine and customer rolls. |

I was looking for plans on the net to build a DIY copper sorting machine using good ol' gravity. Found some youtube vids, but nothing that resembled schematics. Picked up an old hand mixer at the thrift store for $2.50 - its going to be my motor for the turntable to slide the pennies over a seesaw weighted trap door!

Well I went into work yesterday, been off due to an injury. Always a day late,  our bookkeeper had a whole box 2012- D. Did get a roll plus 6, 2012- D cents.   |

Eng, I don't understand - did you want the whole box? Actually untouched rolls of new cents have been good to me... sold a couple on ebay for triple face value. |

Hi lonz, yes, I get a box of cent nickle, dime each year, then I sell at shows that I do, club meetings, there is no cost , but timings is everything.. my store will get 2 boxes every 3 days ..they will get circulated coins most of the time, then a new box will show up and I'll grab it. There always Denver mint....Thanks...  |

Eng5858: I live in Mississippi and can walk into any of a half dozen banks and get 2012 boxes,Denver mint.I sold one on ebay but won't get any boxes until they play out,not worth my time. |

Nice '66, Daniels!  Nice Wheatie haul, Lonz! That hasn't happened to me for awhile, but it's fun when it does. I'm still finding plenty of copper cents, but I'm also finding boxes (especially Brinks) that are 99% or more zinc more often than ever. All of the copper being removed has to be making at least a small dent. I agree with TheDanMan; so many billions of copper Memorials were made that it will be awhile before copper disappears from circulation. When you consider all of the high grade early Memorials that are still turning up in rolls, there are probably still hundreds of thousands of coffee cans full of old cents sitting in closets and basements. Probably even a good number of rain barrels full of them! |

I got a 1970S and 1971s out of four rolls of wheat pennys, I got at the Pawn Shop.   |

All I know is I see people finding less and less copper. Have you guys checked out ebay lately ? There's a whole new industry specializing in what they call copper penny bullion. Huge pallets of pre 82's. You can place an order for a thousand pounds if you want. I wonder how they get so many boxes ? They probably have to pay for em.. I posted this as a new topic but a moderator decided it needed to be moved to the more appropriate board. But I already know what kind of responses I'll get in that area (which is why I didn't post there to begin with) so I'm going to try and post it again right here. Let me know if any of my fellow CRHing peeps can shed some light on this coin: I found a 1906 IHC while CRHing. Most of the coin is really light red colored, as if it has been well preserved. The rim of the coin looks to still have great detail. The indian head has decent details. But the "LIBERTY" which seems to be the key when grading is almost non-existent. Is this some kind of error or PMD? If so, what caused it and how would I go about valuing this IHC. Sorry...no pics as of right now. OO |
