Cool Lincoln Roll Finds (From Bank Rolls) - Post Yours!

I have accounts at multiple banks (not much money in them). Most banks will not sell the bags because most people take the time to count the change. They then go back to the bank and complain the the bag is short and the bank owes them money. The fact of the matter is that if someone gets either a box or a bag from the bank, the purchase price is the amount of the transaction. Fifty dollars for a bag or twenty five for a box. This is how much credit the bank has given when people come in and dump change for the bag or box. It really does not matter how much is in the bag. The bank has given out fifty dollars credit for the bag and I give them fifty dollars for it. Even if the bag is short it still cost the bank the full amount. I have two different banks with a total of four branches where they know that I will not question the amount in the bag. I take all bags except the quarters. This saves them from having to ship back to the fed. I know what the pick up schedule is and just show up the day before. Even if I don't show up they will hold the bags. I can usually get as many boxes as as I want at the other banks. I NEVER ask for more than one box a week from each bank. This keeps them from having to order extra at a higher cost to them. I never dump at any of the pick up banks. I do not want them to handle the bags twice. When I pick up the bags I even go back into the vault to carry them out for them. I always dump at a credit union where I have my main bank account. I always take the time to talk to the tellers and managers if they have questions. Most are interested to hear about interesting finds or to even ask questions about other coins. As long as they trust me I have no problems.

I don't know what part of KY you are from, but I would venture a guess somewhere close to Louisville. I was reading somewhere that the 017 was first located in the Louisville area, and most of the people finding them have not been far from Louisville. I live just east of Lexington, and I have 13 017's at this point. Also, between you, myself, and mfhorn we have over 20 1999 WAM's. And we are all KY based.

I don't even have a copy of the Red Book. There is all kind on information on the web. Look for coppercoins, doubledie, traildies, error-ref websites just for a few.

Would you please post a pic of one; I might be looking for something entirely different.

I haven't got a total tally of '98 and '00 WAMS, but I'm not too far behind you on those either.

My christmas has started out great. I have 2 boxes of pennies already and cant wait to open them but it is fireworks season in SC so I probably wont get to open them until next year.haha

Combine all of the 1998 and 2000 WAM's I've found, and I have close to 60. Been slow of late, though; only one 1998 in the last month.
