Coin roll hunting quarters I pluck out a bright silver edge and find this.
"Drop testing" it sounds more like aluminum then clad or silver and it isn't magnetic.
Any thoughts?

It should weigh 5.67 grams Yours is 5.73 grams slightly over weight which tells me it's been plated with something. Spender unless you just like it

My scale might not be the most accurate. Just weighed 5 more coins of the same year, each coin weighed the same each time I weighed it but overall they ranged from 5.66-5.73g.

Edit: all clearly clad and D, with one P in the mix ... Just cause that's what I had on hand.

Compare it to another coin from that year, if the devices on this coin are slightly thicker than the other coin, it's plated.

At the risk of being redundant, it's plated.

Don't know about plated, but I believe it's been dipped in some other metal...
