The arrested man is thought to have stolen the coins from the mint. If so, I wonder how that could have happened.
Maybe that's why @coaster is having trouble finding the letter "A" in his hunt.

They look like womens T20 cricket world cup coins, 2020 and still fairly common.
Imagine if the bags were full of C marked 2012 Poppies and 2013 Coronation coins.

There is a 3rd unopened bag in the picture. Wonder what's in it. Also wonder if the coins will be auctioned off as proceeds of crime?

I can see these gangsters now.
"Here man, I got fly a** harleys, girls, the best meth to get you high as a kite and the nastiest and greatest drug of the lot - Privy C mark $2 coins with Poppies on them".
I am looking at those bags and imaging how hard it would be to lift them.

well now that a real bad feller. my guess is it probably not stolen as it would be a pain to steal given the security, eg like stealing a casino chip at a casino.
More likely he doesn't care and bought them to store somewhere rather then just having loads of cash notes on hand.
well not really as he would have about 10K of them in those bags if it was a whole shed then okay maybe.

If the coins were stolen from the mint then they are not legally issued coins so they can't be sold. Most likely the mint will take possession of them and then either issue them or destroy them. So who inside the mint was the accomplice? Or is there an ice addict in the mints employ who purchased ice with bags of $2 coins from this dealer? Whatever the answer I'll bet the mints security is getting reviewed.

Not easy at all. A while back I grabbed $4000 in $2 coins to noodle. Not much volume but plenty of weight. I wouldn't want to take those bags to the local coin deposit machine for fear of the bags breaking and spilling coins all over the Chermside shopping complex. I have that nightmare even when taking small amounts, especially on the escalator.

With the price of coloured $2 coins on ebay at the moment, you don't need to deal in drugs. Steve :)
