Looks genuine to me. This, along with the 1859-O, was a date that actually turned up in mint-sealed MS $1,000 bags during the Treasury release in 1964.

I agree with Frog on the VF Details Cleaned. The price is a little high, but fair for a raw details coin. The challenge for the series is to find an original example with eye appeal raw or in plastic. It would cost about about $100 more for a nice original example in the vf30 grade, and when you find it, you will have something special to collect.

This is not a good coin to put away for the future. You want a strictly original coin that's you'll always look at with enjoyment.

The coin would be going in my dansco 7070 the last coin I actually need for it.

Agreed with VF Details. If it were me, I personally wouldn't pick this up unless it were an absolute steal. At this price I wouldn't call it that. Like others have stated, I would save up the extra $100-$150 and get a problem free example.
It will take longer, but to me it's the thrill of searching and finally finding a nice example. There will always be easily accessible problem coins.

The images have way too much light on them and/or were overexposed. It has been cleaned but probably would look a lot better with lower/natural lighting.
I agree with VF Details - Cleaned for a grade but have seen worse in problem-free holders (this series seems to get a lot of breaks in the grading rooms). $269 sounds high to me. I'd say $169 would be a good deal.

Id like to know were you think you can buy them for that cheap if you could get one for 169 its going to look like a piece of junk nowhere near the condition of this one. This coin was probably cleaned 100 or so years ago probably.

VF Details due to an old cleaning.
Hold out for a nicer coin if you can.

You are not going to touch that coin for $169 in my opinion. For your 7070, it's not a bad coin and the price, while not a screaming bargain, is reasonable. I have a cleaned 1860-O in my 7070 that I cracked out of an old Anacs slab and I think it looks decent. Sometimes some things have to give when you collect on a budget. There's a lot of coins cleaned long ago that have retoned nicely, including some in problem free slabs.
