The Mint announced in the Federal Register that the following price increases will take affect in 2021:

Quote:
United States Mint Birth Set (2018, 2020, and 2021) $25.00
United States Mint Happy Birthday Coin Set (2019, 2020, 2021) 25.00
2019 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin SetŪ 25.25
2019 United States Mint Native American $1 25-Coin Roll (P & D) 34.50
2019 United States Mint Kennedy Half-Dollar Two-Roll Set (P & D) 34.50
2019 United States Mint Kennedy Half-Dollar 200-Coin Bag (P & D) 147.00
2019 United States Mint American InnovationTM $1 25-Coin Roll, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware (P & D) 34.50
2019 United States Mint Proof SetŪ 32.00
2019 United States Mint American InnovationTM $1 Coin-Bag, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware (P & D) 117.50
2019 United States Mint American InnovationTM $1 Reverse Proof Coin, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware 11.50
2019 United States Mint American InnovationTM $1 Coin Proof Set 24.00
2019 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters 3-Roll Set-River of No Return Wilderness (P, D, & S) 49.25
2019 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters 40-Coin Roll Set-River of No Return Wilderness (S) 19.75
2019 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Two-Roll Set-River of No Return Wilderness (P & D) 34.50
2019 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Proof SetTM 18.50
United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin STM-Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, American Memorial Park, Lowell National Park, Block Island National Wildlife Refuge, Cumberland Island National Seashore, Voyageurs National Park, and Apostles Islands National Lakeshore (2018 and 2019) 11.50
2019 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Circulating CoinTM Set 10.00
2019 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters 100-Coin Bag, Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, (P, D, and S) 36.75
2018 United States Mint American InnovationTM $1 25-Coin Roll (P & D) 34.50
2018 United States Mint American InnovationTM $1 100 Coin Bag (P & D) 117.50
2018 United States Mint American InnovationTM $1 Proof Coin 11.50

With the exception of the 2021 Birth Set, all of the increases affect previous releases, and strangely enough, some are no longer on sale, such as the 2019 Proof Set. However, these prices are in line with their 2020 product counterparts. It doesn't appear the prices have changed on the website as of yet, but it's still very discouraging to see even more increases. That doesn't bode well for upcoming 2021 products.

I guess they need the additional money to pay for another year
of warehouse storage.

Maybe one day I'll see all these Mint items on "Storage Wars".

The U.S. Mint has to meet it's forecast operational costs for the coming year, and to make a profit, just like any other business.

What the collector has to bear in mind is that any Mint product bought in 2021,
if they wish to re sell in the medium term 1-10 years or more, is
what the (most probable) loss in value is likely be be.

That sort of decision has to be based on past experience for re sale of mint product in the numismatic aftermarket, because
nobody can see the future numismatic after market doing any different from what is happing now.

Same for all other Mints and collectors Worldwide.

That's why I don't buy for profit or to resell; I buy what I like with the intention that product will stay in my collection for years of enjoyment. Unfortunately, though, if I can't afford to buy what I like, then the point becomes moot, and that's what's happening here.

Also, the price increases have now taken effect.

I'm in the camp of "unless I NEED it, I'm not buying it" anymore. I'm wanting to be very selective and only buy what I know will sell out quickly and not tie my money up on the common stuff when it might sell at a discount on the secondary market anyways.

While they have to make a profit, I wouldn't say that it's just like any other business. They can only raise prices in the face of decreasing sales because they're a monopoly. Most businesses in a similar situation would have to compete harder by lowering prices and improving their products. In addition, unless they've become incredibly more inefficient, there's no way there operational costs have increased at near the rate their prices have.

I used to buy pretty regularly:
1) Uncirculated Mint Set
2) Proof ASE
3) Proof Sets
4) Innovation Dollars

But I stopped a few years ago, other than the Innovation Dollars (and when there is an add/on) or an ASE that there is an Upside potential.

I can get almost everything the mint sells locally for less (prior years), I mean ASE are $70, its a $26 (spot) piece of silver? I've picked up PROOF ASE locally for $46 to $52, still cheaper than the mint. The prices are just not worth it to me anymore.
