I'm not exactly sure what I've found. I think its a strike through but seems like a lot more going on. I'm pretty sure its a keeper though. Please share your thoughts.

I also see the D mint mark twice. Would this indicate a double strike?

It looks to me like someone failed a vise job. Either way it is damage unfortunately. Keep hunting!

Yep @ch27 nailed it: rather than a doubled die, this looks like damage from someone trying to manufacture an error.

Ok ty. Is it because the coin is so mangled that leads you to believe damaged rather then other options

Well when everyone thinks it's damage I guess it's just damage. Caused by the die? :)

For future reference and to save you some time, a coin that is struck in collar
cannot be out of round. If it is as in the case of your coin, then it can only be damage.

There is nothing in the minting process that would produce this. Interesting nonetheless, but sadly only PMD.
