As far as how the date looks, I'm leaning towards die flow lines...lets see what others say...As far as the mint mark all I know is that there are so many for that year and mint, so good luck matching it up....

The lighting makes it difficult to see clearly. That leftover bit doesn't seem to curve enough.

The nickel does look rather clean--wondering what the light source is/was for the photos.
