Just won this today: Took a bit of a gamble here, there was no reverse picture on the listing, but the price was too good to pass up ($30! ) and it will fill that hole in my commemorative type set. Of course, if I don't like it in hand, the seller has a no-questions asked return policy, so back it will go. Overall, one of the better deals I've made on the Bay. It was an auction, I was surprised because these usually go for $60+ on ebay.

Quote: good deal let us know how it turns out when you get it Well it came today, and it is better than I had hoped! Grading seems accurate -- at least AU-55, it has full letters, full stars, and no obvious blemishes or marks. What a deal! Quote: LEE AND GRANT It is actually Gen. Robert E. Lee and Gen. Stonewall Jackson, remember that this coin commemorated the Confederacy. Even the funds to strike it were raised by the KKK.

Quote: Even the funds to strike it were raised by the KKK. I thought this was a US coin, authorized by Congress & struck by the US Mint. How does the KKK tie in? Looks like a nice coin & definitely a bargin at $30.

I meant that the sales of the coin funded the KKK's efforts to build Stone Mountain, not the other way around -- my mistake. Quote: In 1925, a commemorative 50-cent coin was released that showed Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson; money raised from the sale of the coins was combined with money raised by the Ku Klux Klan in order to fund the carving of a Confederate monument at Stone Mountain, the 1915 site of the founding of the second Ku Klux Klan.

Can't wait to see this one in hand! Approximately US$64.00 with s/h. I love the detail this shows.
