I'm looking at this toned Roosevelt dime but I cannot determine its age. I do know that it is not silver. Does this appear to be a struck-through error or is t just pretty beat up. These are the first images through a new coin scope but the graininess is not the scope, it is actually grainy to the eye. Thanks in advance.

Just a badly corroded dime.
Could have been in the ground for awhile.

Definitely beat-up--certainly didn't exit the mint this way, or even close to it. May have had an intense, brief exposure to high heat (primarily the reverse, but some evidence on the obverse as well). Obverse gashes were likely intentional--screwdriver, or chisel, or.... Interesting toning. Keep it as a fun example of curious damage.

Looks like damage from a blow torch

Yikes, this one has been beat down: purposeful scratches plus a likely blowtorch treatment.

"Toned" is being generous. Environmentally and physically tarnished/stained/beatdown/ground down, perhaps former parking lot coin. Pure post mint damage here, no mint error whatsoever. Spence's reaction above says all that needs to be said, "Yikes!"

Thank you all for the helpful replies. I am still very new to the whole coin collecting thing so some of the terminologies are fresh. I appreciate the help and can't wait to keep learning.

Just a spender at this point. Not silver. When you look at the outside edge of the coin, you should be seeing the copper line.
