It would appear that one is an earlier die state and the other a Lds, nice find, just my opinion.
It looks as though the die break was smaller on the 1st coin and is apparently larger on the other coin. I wonder where the others are that IMO, broke the die and made the residual raised areas on the coins, the ones between the two coins that add up to the larger one you have?

Your second picture looks like a few that I have, although a bit larger. I was told it is a doubled die.

Two different die completely. Doubling is produced when the die is hubbed. 2004 has a bumper crop of these doubled columns, I'm finding one in about every 100 cents I look at.

I find both of them to be interesting. Both from different dies. While searching it adds to more to watch out for. They remind me of a couple I found that were listed by John Wexler.

The two coins in the original post are quite obviously different dies, and both are interesting, nice doubled columns.
