What I find hard to believe is how can a coin graded VF50 still have full cartwheel mint bloom because to me that is impossible and is more a case of a worn die than wear on the coin The coin featured at the auction is GF still shows nearly all hair detail with very prominent curls at the nape of the neck . Reverse D is always questionable often has worn die specimens where the dress is completely devoid of any identifying marks and almost always the shield is weakly struck. Incidentally Paddy was this listed as N/sidewaysN or Z (another classification that is impossible for obvious reasons) Not much between either coins plus photography only tells part of a story Bold fine for me :) Report this Post to the Staff
molydeii Pillar of the Community Turkey 870 Posts	Posted 03/25/2021 08:37 am Hogarth, that is what I like about British / adjectival grading system compared to the American / numeral system. It leaves some room to discuss and also reflects what each adjective means for each grader. Looking at the OP's coin, I can see the Trident, fingers of Britannia and the ship seems slightby in better detail than London Coins' Fine graded coin. But that is just me thinking and I am nothing close to an expert in British coins, I just collect them. To me OP's coin, conditionwise, is just a tad better than London Coins graded penny. (gF or aVF compaed to F).But that is just my opinion. Report this Post to the Staff
