Hi guys, I am starting to lose my mind here. I have tested this coin using several methods and it seems like it pass them all.It passes the sound and rare earth magnet tests. However if you inspect the pictures it seems like the coin is worn on specific places more than the others. Please share your opinion. It has the following dimensions: Diam.: 37.84mm Thick.: 2.64mm Gr. 26.75gr

Looks good to me. It's a 1884, not a 1883 as listed in the title, but I don't see anything to cause doubt about its authenticity. With almost 10,000,000 minted in New Orleans in 1884 I wouldn't think it would be a counterfeit, but it's possible.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

Quote: With almost 10,000,000 minted in New Orleans in 1884 I wouldn't think it would be a counterfeit EVERY year and mint mark Morgan dollar has been counterfeited, without exception. Here's a fake 1884-O from my archives.
regarding krun4's coin I don't like the shape of the date digits I don't like the flat gray color of the coin I don't like the shallowly struck stars on either side of the date Chances of this being a genuine coin 10%, in my opinion.

Thank you all for your responses!
Can someone suggest a way to test it with absolute certainty?

try putting ice on it. if it is silver, the ice will melt. or balance it on your finger an then tap it with another coin, if it is silver, it willhave a nice, low ting sound.

Another good way I suppose to test it is to try to match this specimen to the known vams on vamworld.com. It would be genuine if a known VAM matches yours. I think it would be kinda hard for a counterfeiter to fake any of the known vams to me.

You can compare the thickness across the rim to another known authentic example. Chinese counterfeits tend to be thicker to achieve the correct weight when not made from 90/10 silver. Beyond that, your example looks like a far date position with an oval O/O mint mark. Can you post an enlarged cropped image of the mint mark? And to the CCF!

Your local coin or bullion dealer should have a tester for silver/gold coins.

When I hit it with other silver coin it has really high and prolong silver pitch sound. I will try the ice test as well. Unfortunately I don't have a XRF. It really looks quite odd as a coin, but even the rare earth magnet behaves like it is sliding on silver.

I have yet to see a counterfeit that matches a legitimate VAM listing. Your coin is authentic in my opinion.
