My guess on the dime is that is worn down or sanded down. People do weird things to coins after they go back into circulation, they are smoothed out so it's hard to see the marks from the intentional damage. Don't take my words as final, wait some experts to chime in.

if it was sanded I do not think that it would weight the same as a dime. does not look sanded same width as a dime

 the coin looks to be a Dryer Coin. The reeding was there but it has been pressed down, expanding the edge. This can also be done with a copper pipe sizing tool.

Coins can work themselves into the inner drum mechanisms--not immediately accessible by laundromat customers.
