Full, sharp photos of the full coin--obverse and reverse--may tell a more complete story. As it is, the mint mark appears to be the recipient of a good deal of circulation flattening/wear, Does the whole coin exhibit a high degree of 'smoothing' wear?

Note the two different sizes and styles?

I don' t know of any error that would cause that.
Looks badly worn but until we see the whole coin, hard to say for sure.

The coin is worn but I didn't see any damage around mint mark to cause that..

Probably a filled with grease issue. (Thus why it looks larger)

IMO the S is blobby from wear, looks like some lamination on Monticello
