"This is a fissure that opened up in the coin metal strip during rolling out of the strip. Tensile forces generated during rolling caused the metal to stretch out and finally break. That's why you see characteristic bifacial beveling on both sides of the fissure." Mike diamond

This is coin damaged . Note the rim is altered. A sure sign it happened after the strike.

ok, just asking I can see where coop is right about the damaged rim and I'm not questioning Mike D. The jaw bone and cheek area just looked weird to me, almost like some type of acid damage..... . I'm out on this one...... Thanks

I think the obverse "rim issue" that coop and others are seeing is the reflection of the 2x2s clear film. Can you photo it outside the 2x2 to clear this up?

what he is seeing is a piece of lint in the first pic of the obverse...you can clearly see it better in the second image

I recommend you remove it from the 2x2 and take/post new pics. Then put it in a new Air-Tite. Looks cool and must have a decent value.

That's a new one for me. Interesting error and likely fairly rare. Nice one!

I've seen a lot of error nickels, but never one of this type, I like it.
