Was going through some of my unfiled error coins recently and saw this one. I've had it for a couple of years but just never photographed it and filed it. Trouble is that it's really quite attractive with the toning, but I can't seem to figure out how to show it with my camera set up. But here it is. 1944 Lincoln Wheat cent mint error - broadstruck 20mm diameter

Your reverse photo is giving us a taste of the toning...I'm seeing some green/yellows @ east rim and purple all over it....nice coin..

You might try a darker background? The red maybe hiding the toning you want to show?

Try an axial lighting setup--it can be pain but worth the effort. Google 'coin axial lighting' for various solutions.

Instead of an overhead shot, try to angle/tilt the coin a bit, seems to show toning better in pictures that way.....

Thanks for the great comments! I did try angling things but really didn't help. I'm sure axial lighting would do it but I just haven't wanted to do one of those set-ups. If I were to take up the space to make all that I'd be looking at a dedicated camera and the whole deal, but for now I'll just live without really being able to show toning very well.

Yeah, Ray takes some of the finest coin images on the planet. He sent me some of the images of the 1956 D/D w/BIE that I sent him for his work. Just stunning stuff.

I was using a darker background image to show you how that a darker color of background maybe what you need to show off the tiger stripes of the toning color. The red makes the BU color to be enhanced. For the ones you want to show the toning with, a black sheet of paper might be a better background. The rest of the time the red is a better color.

Congrats on the broadstruck TB. Great point Coop on the background color. Ray is always talking about a neutral grey or blackish background working best. I feel fortunate I have an old blackish gray mouse pad that seems to work fairly well with my phone.
