1987 Penny With Half Of The Coin Face Missing & Just Plain Silver, Error?

So I have a question to ask the people that are much more advanced then I am,for now,in this coin business. I found a 1987 penny that has similar markings as other coins I read about. I believe its called being double cast or something. I first thought maybe someone put it on train tracks & did this but it can't be that because the back of the coin was unaffected. Anyway for the main event I will post pictures so everyone can observe what it is that I am describing, poorly I might add, as to get a better idea of the coin. I can see the underlying zinc core in places where the copper plating has been mechanically removed and elsewhere perhaps from chemical exposure. ijn1944 Bedrock of the Community United States 19167 Posts	Posted 04/18/2021 8:50 pm Damaged coin, sadly. Appears the obverse was scraped hard in a lateral fashion. Zinc core is showing nicely. Over the years I've seen a number of zinc Lincolns with similar damage. Just a damaged coin, no errors. Report this Post to the Staff
