Whats up everybody!? How's everyone doing out there in coin land? So I have a question to ask the people that are much more advanced then I am,for now,in this coin business. I found a 1987 penny that has similar markings as other coins I read about. I believe its called being double cast or something. I first thought maybe someone put it on train tracks & did this but it can't be that because the back of the coin was unaffected. Anyway for the main event I will post pictures so everyone can observe what it is that I am describing, poorly I might add, as to get a better idea of the coin. Thanks for everything anyone may or may not do! Have a good night or like my late brother used to say "Love, Peace & Bacon Grease"

Looks like deliberate damage to me, but the experts will weigh in.

@penny, first welcome to CCF. Second, this coin looks damaged to me. I can see the underlying zinc core in places where the copper plating has been mechanically removed and elsewhere perhaps from chemical exposure.

The only thing to call that is a heavily damaged coin.
There is no way even remotely that could happen
during the striking of the coin.

Spend it immediately. Before the rot sets in. Before it becomes, just a copper colored Hershey's kiss wrapper.

Damaged coin, sadly. Appears the obverse was scraped hard in a lateral fashion. Zinc core is showing nicely. Over the years I've seen a number of zinc Lincolns with similar damage. Just a damaged coin, no errors.

no mint error involved afraid. Just heavy-handed deliberate post mint damage ( PMD), no premium, sorry.
