Found this in my latest hunt. Is this a bad die crack or just damage?

Thanks!

It could have been a linear plating bubble that ruptured years ago and created this on your coin? Check to weight to see if it is normal? Where it looks like it peeled, is there gray under those areas? If there is plating under those areas if maybe a stuck through a plating issue?

Agree this looks like the mother of all linear plating bubbles.

Would love to see a couple large and sharp, close-in photos--with reduced glare. Very interesting--especially out towards the rim on both ends of the feature in question..

It to me almost looks like a combination of what others said about plating bubbling lining up with a potential lamination perhaps.

@ken, my favorite method for determining if something is a linear plating bubble is to depress it with the tip of a wooden toothpick. Most of the time, that will flatten them. If not, then it might be debris caught under the plating.

Finally getting around to looking at this coin again.

I checked with a toothpick and there is a ridge at the cracks on the right and left side. No changes to the plating with the toothpick.

Weight is spot on - 2.5g

Thanks!
