This coin is a mess. I see die cracks, lamination, die chips, maybe struck through on shoulder and would this be considered a very late die state? Weighs 3.13g.
Thanks for the help and sorry about so many pictures.

I'm not so sure about the strike-through, but everything else checks out. 1955 was not a good year for quality control.

A classic '55 P cent. Very nice. Yes, late die state, lamination issue, 'poor man's doubled die', cracked skull, die chips. I love it. I have a couple tubes of these--yours is one of the better examples. I acquire these whenever I come across 'em. Just plain fun.

Oddly, I happen to have one of those sitting on my desk right now. It might be a little later die stage as it is also a BIE. The shoulder is a die break. I'll try and post photos tonight if I have time but the flight pattern is pretty full today until quite late.

In fact, it's hard to find a '55 cent that DOESN'T have some sort of issue!

Finally getting back to this one. These images are from a coin I pretty much found just before the OP posted his so immediately recognized it.

This one is one die state later it would seem, as the die crack at the date has split to two cracks and it is now a BIE (unlisted). The shoulder is a retained interior die break.

Looks like the same die pairs. Bats coin looks like a VVLDS, instead of the other was is just a VLDS coin.

1955 was definitely a year where production outweighed quality control.
The king of doubled dies, 1955 DDO-001, was discovered before it ever left the mint but to cull it would have meant melting a whole nights production. The powers that be decided no one would notice anything amiss so they were shipped out .
It got noticed !
