Just a badly damaged dime.
What you have is impossible to have happened during the striking of the coin.

Correct typo

It is an example of a wrecked car, but on a coin. Not a mint error, like the wrecked car is not a factory error. One of the coins' owners, altered the coin. Just a face value coin, no premium for a damaged coin.

The only absolute given is the damage was done post mint ( PMD). Not a mint error, sorry.

since this post is about dimes. I have some silver dimes and I dont know what to do with them. Should I include them as junk coins with other silver coins? If so, then what do I do with all the junk silver? I dont think I want to deal with a dealer. Maybe it's better to sell them. Opinions please. I have a few damaged silver coins and I put them all in the junk silver pile.

There are a billion ways a coin can be damaged, and a finite numbers of ways for errors. This cannot happen at the mint.

And there is no premium for how the coin was damaged. We often make suggestions, but the coin murderer is the only one who knows exactly how it was done.
