Is it composed of silver or gold? No? I think it might be worth less than 1 cent... half of it is worn away... but... that is the wonderful thing about the coiner affliction, every piece in one's collection is personally worth whatever one wishes.

I would place it, your 1959 D LMC ( Lincoln Memorial cent), on the public portion of my lawn so the older than me dude with the metal detector who scours the neighborhood might discover it and be fascinated!

@casper, first welcome to CCF. Second, you will see that I have made a couple changes to your thread: I changed this from a poll to a normal thread and moved it over to the appropriate subforum. I hope that we can get you some answers to what happened to your coin.

Looks like it may have been deliberately ground down at one time.

Ground down, then pocket piece, probably trying to make a lowball but accidentally dropped or spent it.

Well it is still a cent. When it get back to the bank, it will be sent back to the mint to be cancelled.

A very, very worn Lincoln Cent. Worth one cent at a bank or placed in a roll of cents. A crazed collector of Lincoln Cent oddities might give you dime for it.

If it is the same diameter, as a dime, it may have been altered then to get a 10 cent soda from the vending machine. Check to see if the thickness and the outer diameters are the same as a dime. They were know to alter coins to use in machines.

Looks smashed to me. I have several Canadian cents the were ran over by trains that look similar, but are shaped like guitar picks (which yours does not). I agree, while perhaps a novity, no premium I'm afraid, sorry.
