Hi every body

I came across a very interesting modern coin of US Jefferson nickle which is minted in Denver with D over inverted D

I request you to have a look to the attached images and let me know your opinions.

With best regards,

Habib Alimohammadian.

OMM=over mint marks stopped in 1956. Hard to tell with photos of monitors, but looks normal for the year to me.

Since 1990, the mintmark is added to the design. So there is not such thing on 1990 forwards coins. It looks like DDD a part of die wear seen on that area of the coin. Also some Machine Doubling on this area. If there is an appearance of a RPM, these would be doubled dies, and the date would show the same doubling.
No listings for many years on the nickel DDO on Variety vista:

On the DDR's there are more years to look for these doubled dies.

But not many found these years.

Not possible. RPMs were only possible until 1989, which was the last year the mint punched them separately from the hubbing process.

As has been said...its impossible for this date to have an RPM. Admittedly I can see why you would have thought it is one though when seeing the pics of your monitor.

In the future, please take a computer screen snapshot and put that picture here instead. Pics of monitor screens hide details.

Please, no more computer monitor shots. They are too pixelated to see fine details. Please just use your camera directly to the coin. Thanks.

Dear all,
Thank you for your comments.
I tried to take some good pictures of this mint mark and again share with you. If you look carefully to the following pictures, you can see the complete imvert shap of the word D under the D mint mark.
The other RPM's of the Jefferson nickels have the similar features. Please do not consider the date, just kindly see what is on the coin.
Thank you.

You have to consider the date because as explained, after 1989 it is impossible to have
a repunched mm as they are part of the master hub.

Interesting but the 2 of the date has the same effect on it, so I'm leaning towards some type of MD.

As others have said, the date must be considered since the MM's were not put on the dies by hand after 1989.
