Howdy. I have a 1991 D penny and the date has a double shadow. I do not think this is DD nor MD. Did some research, maybe a die shift?

Thanks for all opinions / comments, appreciate your help.

Maybe it is md? I don't know really. But it does not seem to be die shift.

Thank you coop and Coinfrog. From what I read, you are saying the date is a result of die flow lines moving outward due to DDD. I think I understand!

That is part of the die wear. The outside edges of the devices are not affected, but the fields are. On the older die wear actually wore on outside edges of the devices:
1991-D-Penny---Die-Shift?
But on the single squeeze devices, the devices stay normal and the fields are altered. Thus I call this on the Single squeeze dies, DDD.
