This is hilarious!

So on my FaceBook feed, an advertisement came up for a company selling NGC certified https://www.elisurny.com/collection...gular-strike

I was so intrigued so I went ahead and purchased one knowing it was "too good to be true." When the package arrived this is what came.

Should I ask for a refund because they sent the wrong coin? I'm

I don't think that is genuine, so I would say, request to return it. Of course, you should first verify 100% if it is genuine.
EDIT: reread your post, and I assume that you are just joking.

That's clearly not genuine, but I'm guessing you know that.

At $8.99 I don't think it's real gold...However if you paid $ 15.98.......Maybe....

Anytime you see a website that follows that design on the main page it's 99.9% a scam site. Stealing credit card numbers, info, ID theft, etc. I've uncovered literally hundreds of them, they pop up over night and have a decent way as to getting into the search engine rankings fast. It's almost scary.

One way is to look up the IP at:

https://lookup.icann.org/

if you do this on this site you will see the following, note the date of creation, the location of the servers, hardly looks like a US based shipping company? They claim all items are shipped from their US based office, in the about pages, yet never, ever, show any physically address.

I see more and more of these sites when trying to buy recently out of print and hard to find books on coins. That's what led me down the rabbit hole of looking into them one night. I almost ordered $90.00 worth of books from one of them. Thankfully I listened to my gut and did the research first.

SEARCHHOUND - I would be very careful with any credit card info you used and your address, they have it now, keep a very close eye (like twice daily) look ups of use and charges made on it. Also having your billing address they can also create new credit cards under your name or others names destroying your credit score, and hurting you in the long run, just be cautious, and vigilant especially now.

Technically, they've committed a crime, in selling you an unmarked replica.

While entirely true, it is hard to go after people that hide in another country, especially once they have your money. I'd bet this store is gone in less than 90 days as well. They have literally hundreds of others with the same links selling the same garbage.

By sending you something so precious maybe they were hoping for repeat business. What's the weight?

I doubt that it's even gold plating. The 2 and the cc are nice freelances, and you got a really bald eagle.

I see more and more of these sites when trying to buy recently

On Facebook I'm seeing more fake sports cards than coins now. Unopened boxes of packs that should be $600 for $29.95.

I used PayPal so they wouldn't be able to recapture, and I never type in anything as my web browser remembers all my login/passwords. Thanks for the concern!

Also thanks for everyone's replies!
