Hi, This sms dime has nice frost and I was thinking of grading BUT the rim is cracked and not sure what it is called? And would the cracks lower grade or value? Regards!

I'm not sure what's happening on the rim of this coin, but I would like to see images of the edge. It's always best to take pictures with the coin out of the 2x2. Interesting. Edit: The glare fooled me. I thought it was a 1963.

I see missing nickel but no cracks. The rest to judge it is for those who are experts on this kind.

PR-68: https://www.PCGS.com/cert/71468610Value $25 Probably cost twice that for the grading fees. Proof/SMS coins don't show much potential on return for grading. While they look the nicest, the return is usually less than you think.

It looks like the cladding is flaking off the rim to me.

Your feedback is AWESOME!! If I was gonna grade it would I need to pay a mint error fee to get a designation or should I sell on ebay? I'm not sure of value? I may want to keep?

Having a coin slabbed does not increase the value. The coin stands on it's own merits. The graders give the grade, then charge as much as $50 and then you find out it is worth face value. As a buyer, I pay nothing extra for a slabbed coin. Just the value I figure it is worth. Most of the time, a lot less than the grading fees would cost. The only ones getting rich on these are the grading companies.
