Definitely a deal, nice acquisition! I'm in the MS64 camp as well with it.

even if the luster is a little more subdued in hand I cant see this getting knocked 2 or 3 full points. worth resub imo. if it comes back even at 64 you would double the value

Resubmit and go with the wisdom of crowds. Even if it comes back 63 it was worth it. I've seen some weird 62's but this takes the biscuit.

I recently applied to NGC through their ANA membership program, still waiting for my info. This one will be going back, there's too much upside not too. Thanks for all the responses!

I agree with the resubmit..But (Everyone) what do you do...send it in the holder or crack it out and send in raw...?

TPG got it wrong. I still agree with other opinions at MS-64. I would not get it re graded however, because they may still see it the same way as the first time, and re grading fees would be wasted. A prospective buyer buyer will still assess it for himself anyway, if he is confident in his own grading skills. With the body of opinion in this thread at higher than MS-62, I think that at least 63 money should be expected.

The scruffy neck and cheek hurt it. I think NGC got it right and a resubmit would be a waste of money.

Nice one!
I think they placed too much emphasis on the cheek dings and the reverse rim ding at 1:00. My first impression was a bourse floor MS-63. I just can't see this one as a 62.
Several ways to go here. You could send it to the bean factory. A bean would certainly make it a bourse floor 63, and a gold bean might even give you a bourse floor argument for 63+/64. You could submit it to PCGS for crossover, with a minimum acceptable grade. I don't think 63 would be a reach, but 64 might be a bridge too far for them. You could submit to NGC for regrade, as long as it is in the original holder. They will reholder it regardless of the new grade, and it can't be lower. You could crack and submit to any of the big three, and hope for a higher grade. (I see very little risk of lower here.)
The only downside would seem to be the submission fee. A VAM-3 bump from 62 to 63 is at least a $250-ish to $300-ish gain.
It's a very nice coin!
