Possibly a PMD Example that would increase value...

PSD. The cent looks nice though. A few too many photos. John1

with PMD. any increase of value? not sure. BUT, if you open it and take it out, then I would say your chances drop to zero for increased value.

Interesting chain of issues--I like it. Appears there was a failure to properly seal the packaging, which led to environmental contamination through the holes/gaps created by the sealing machine--including coming into contact with the edge of the Kennedy half (creating small packaging tears). For max value, I suggest leaving the set as-is, perhaps finding a 'holder' or sleeve to store it in. Has a strong cool factor.

Toning is officially considered damage, but this is post strike. I don't see any premium involved here, sorry. to the CCF!

Damaged now. Not a premium for this. If they had checked it when it was issued, they could have received a replacement.

Might not be a huge premium, certainly, but I'd wager a few collectors would pay a smidge over the going rate for this SMS set, if they'd come across it in it's current condition/state.

It is a natural toning due to the lack of packaging. With this toning the set could be around 30 to 40 bucks.

Thank you everyone. Do you guys have an example of slabbed PMD examples? How does NGC grades this type of anomaly?

No they would call a damaged coin damaged or questionable color if they think the color is off. It looks to me like these coins were under something heavy and they broke through the package a long time ago. The rest these guys have already stated.

If they would slab it, it would be labeled as a genuine coin. No premium for any damaged coin. (Otherwise there would be no change. As everyone would be damaging it for a premium. They only spend a damaged coin after the figure out it is not looking like a mint error. Then they hope someone will take it as payment.
