I found this in my pocket change today. Is it an error or just damage? Thanks in advance for your time.

@edge, you don't specify what you are seeing with the coin in hand, but I see some wear on the obv that has distorted the 9 in the date and part of TRUST.

I see a hint of a Ridge Ring on the obverse--suggests Die Deterioration which has affected the last 9 in the date. Also, there a appears to be a nicely located zinc bubble (bursting) just under the '89'.

I was thinking the bubble under the second 9 was the mint mark out in no man's land. Anyways, as always I appreciate you guys time and knowledge.

Even a pin prick on the plating will make that area expose the zinc, make the volcano cone in the coin near the date area. Not a premium for the coin. Actually a countdown for the coin.
