Hi, my name is Sean, and I just started collecting coins. It appears that my 1955 penney was stamped with a "P" and then stamped over with a "D". Does this type of error increase the value at all?

Well first off, the only year that a 'P' appeared on a cent was 2017-P:

The War Nickels during WWII, had the first 'P' mintmarks for Philadelphia. After 1945, there 'P' mintmark was not used until 1980 on all other denominations, except of Cents. So it would be impossible to be a 'D' over a 'P' on a cent.

With maybe 30+ years of circulation, the mint mark has taken a hard hit causing what you see as a P over D,but it's just PMD.
