I have a had time distinguishing between double dies and double strikes. With this penny I would like to know what the correct terminology would be to describe it. Is it worth keeping or put it back into circulation? If it has unique errors, what would be the value if any? Should this coin be certified?

@very, first welcome to CCF. Second, I'm not seeing a doubled die here, but neither am I seeing machine doubling--maybe a bit of doubling from the glare used in your photo set-up? Let's see what others think too though.

Well you are using double lighting. This makes if look like something is there, when there isn't. On the EPU, if the devices are enlarged, it is not a doubled die. On these devices they are incuse on the coin. So Machine Doubling enlarges these devices:

But note on the lower image I posted. Note how on the DDR, these devices are made smaller on a doubled die on these incuse devices. All I see on your coin on both sides is Machine Doubling.

I agreed with Spence, some Machine Doubling with lots of glare from the lighting. Use a defused lighting source for best results.
