I bought a large box of foreign coins recently, and this FUGIO cent was in the box along with a couple other older American coins. I'm having a hard time finding specifics on it through NGC or PCGS, but it does look like a PCGS variant of STATES UNITED 4 cinqs or something like that. The weight is 6.51 grams, and the width is anywhere from 27.65 to 28.19 mm since it is not perfectly round. Thickness is 1.39 mm.

I don't know? It does look like it was struck over a previous coin maybe. I think I see some other design in the background from a previous life it had. Pretty neat. I wonder what else was in the lot. Please post them one at a time in appropriate sections.

Looks genuine to me, although I'm not sure why it's so underweight. The background design on the obverse fields are clash marks.

TNG- please don't make me list all the coins, lol! It was a lot of older (1800's) Canadian, German, French, and Italian coins mostly. There was also a couple of 1700's Mexican 1 Reale coins. The American stuff included this Fugio cent, an 1822 Coronet Head cent, an XF condition 1852 3 cent silver piece, and a very rusty 1857-O Seated quarter. I was thinking the clash marks actually helped it in the verification. It does look most like the "States United Cinq-4" coin IMHO. Thank you all for the input! Please- anyone else feel free to post. Since it appears to be authentic, I am going to send it off to PCGS for grading and a slab. I am a member of both PCGS and NGC, but I have a couple of free gradings left at PCGS!

Great idea! I would send it in too. Also sounds like a very interesting box of coins. Wish I had one.

killer find. send this one off and repost it...I'm not familiar with grading these but I would say it could come in as a high VF or even XF. I think the gash at K9 could details it but this is a once in a lifetime find.

That's an absolutely amazing find from a foreign bin. I hope to own a fugio Cent someday, and finding one in a foreign bin would be a dream!
