I've heard that Morgan's were usually carried in bank bags, but how often were they in labeled bank rolls? And my concern is that they put a CC on one end of the roll - and then put lesser value Morgan's in the middle - or worse, even fakes. Any thoughts from you experts?

No. A scam as old as time.

It's part of an upcoming coin auction from what I believe is a legitimate auction house.

It's called "salting" the roll. Happens all the time. Put a good coin on the outside and nothing else of value inside.

I encountered dozens of original bank wrapped rolls from a hoard back in the late 80's. I believe they were from the last days when silver certificates could still be redeemed. I forget what the wrappers looked like but I am sure those were legit.

And there's always a "cc" mint on the end, or a 1893. Don't walk away, RUN!

Other end is an 1879 that looks pretty good.

Also says, 'based on weight, this is an uncirculated roll'.

Hard to believe the end coin could be that bright in a paper roll that looks that old.

As others have said, this is often a scam. We even had a small out-of-state dealer caught doing it at our local annual coin show a few years back. Selling "original bank-wrapped" solid scarcer-date/mint Morgan rolls. I guess he didn't expect a buyer to open a roll and actually look at the coins while standing at his table. End coins were legit, all the others in the roll were common date coins...
