I know this is not a scientific survey but curious about views from experienced dealers and collectors about opinions on what coin series are stronger right now and what series might offer better long term prospects. As a collector I was at a local coin show yesterday - traffic seemed light- and usually ask dealers same question just to guide my buying. Most interested in views on the commemorative silver classics which seem a bit weak now. So is this a good time to add some higher grade Commems or will this series continue to be weak? Dealers indicated Morgan's have been strong. I guess I'm looking for some experienced views on market directions. Thanks

Kind of tuff to tell right now. This sort of thing cold vary from State to State, type of coin, amount of each on ebay, etc. Just to many variables.

The classic commemoratives are a solid buy at the moment with the market on a nice steady increase. It's not beyond the realm of a possibility for the market to suddenly spike. Another thing I've noticed, in the past five years alone, is how modern clad coinage are bringing strong numbers in the upper mint state grades. Obviously they are getting some overdue respect.

I've been actively collecting Morgan's for about 7 years and I've noticed they have steadily increased in price in mint state. It seems to me that Franklins are a good buy now. Just my $.02.

I've been a collector for a while, based on my experience the following have all experienced price appreciation the last few months.

Peace dollars are doubled what I paid 2 years ago
ASE have increased 50-75% just in the past few months
Indian Head cents are about 35% more expensive in the past 6 months
Modern silver coinage is anywhere from 25-100%, but this is selective as an example common date quarters haven't increased much while the stare quarters and ATB are higher cost.
Slabbed coins have increased from 10%-45% in the past few weeks (based on the 7070)
In terms of not seeing much growth, regular ms64-65 Franklins are still inexpensive
I also haven't seen much increase in common date (none PM) raw coins

The above is based on what I buy and research. Since I don't collect gold or Morgans can't say much about that market.
