I should've gone to bed.. found this 1972 D Washington quarter that caught my eye. is this just heavy MD or some sort of hub doubling on the reverse?

Likely too late, but having full and sharp photos of the coin's obverse and reverse would be useful--helps establish the coin's full context.

MD...look at how thin (telltale MD result) some of the elements have been made (such as the tail of the Q).

the obverse rim doubling is where the reverse word doubling is occurring. is it just a coincidence then? just doesn't look like your typical MD.

full coin shots.
