I was wondering if the damage marks on the face could be from the mint possibly the edging machine and the reverse looks like a possible double die everyone check it out let me know what you think thanks

Guessing these are just severe reeded-edge bag marks.

Also, the step-like doubling on the reverse is Machine Doubling. A nice, clear example.

I'm thinking intentional railroad tracks by someone placing another Half Dollar on edge of that coin and hitting the opposite side with a hammer . Why , I have no idea .

the relatively high level of reflectivity in the fields suggests this coin came from a Special Mint Set

FYI-
There is no 'edging machine". The reeding is applied by the collar that holds the planchet
in place during the striking of the coin. There is no way that it could create those marks.
The marks are PMD.

I think that T-Bop nailed this one. Intentional damage to the obverse.

Looking at the mirrored surface, I think that this coin may be an SMS coin to boot...

I was thinking SMS coin, too. Is it still in the original packaging?

The reeds are in the collar edge. The planchet is squeezed into the collar and the reeds are done all at the time of the strike. Only coins would show just an area that could be hammer/dropped onto the surface of the coin.
