I found a 1982 D in pocket change. It weighs 2.9. It's weight does not adhere to the 1982 zink or brass weight for the Lincoln Cents. Is it copper?

If you don't have weights to check your scale for accuracy, grab a zincoln and a copper and weigh them to see what your scale comes in at.

Looks like a small date but a closeup of it would not hurt.

Full reverse photo might also help to see if there is any indication of zinc

Normally I would not advocate dropping a coin on a hard surface, but this one's in pretty rough shape anyway. Compare the "ping" to a known 95% copper cent (pre-1982) and a known copper-plated zinc cent. The sounds don't lie.

It's a small date for sure.

Now for the exciting part to find out for sure if it's copper or zinc.

The area near the rim under Lincoln's shoulder is looking recessed like a zinc cent. (But the weight sure makes this one a toss-up!)

from youtuber.
Did the youtuber tell you how to take a closeup pic? Do you have a loupe, magnifying glass, pair of glasses, that you could use in conjunction with your camera?

By the way,

Thanks. Tried it but my hearings not so good. Can't really tell. Looks like I'll have to send it in in order to get to the bottom of it.
Thanks tho.
