I'd like to bring in a couple coins for grading. Can anyone recommend a good dealer in the Boston, and surrounding, area?

I've never done this before but is it proper, or acceptable, to do this? I'm primarily looking for a grading opinion, unlikely to sell the coins.

John1's advice to post clear pictures of your coins (one coin per post, both obverse and reverse and well-cropped) in the grading section of this forum would be your best bet to get some free expert opinions on the grade. While I've never asked before, I wouldn't expect a dealer to provide a grading opinion without charging a fee for the service.

A dealer will probably help to a point but they are in the business to make money. Asking them to grade your coins without buying anything is in my opinion kind of rude.

You can learn a lot about grading coins from the reading the posts here, and people share their knowledge and expertise freely.

Yes, I've already posted pics here for advice:

I realize the pics aren't the best and I may have rushed into this without exploring better ways of taking the pics. So, the pics may not fully distinguish between marks on the coin and the holder, although I believe all the marks on the coin in that thread are on the coin.

Of course, if it's rude to do this with a dealer, then I'll abort that plan.

The photos you posted seems to be good enough. If you have the time and patients, practice your coin photo taking skills a bit.It is not easy to take pics of a coin in a holder,so you did fine.
