I am definitely sure you would all agree with me that this is a small date and it weighs 3.10g, as it shows on the photos. When I noticed that there is somewhat a faded "D" mm underneath the year, I tried to look at it on different angles and when I checked the reverse, I've noticed the statue is also missing. My first thought maybe grease filled die(?) I did some more research and I am now thinking this might be an over polished die instead? In addition, maybe die abrasion as well? I am not really good in taking photos, still struggling but hope with the attached photos, you will be able to help and tell me what you think? What are the possibilities of this coin being a 1982(D) Small Date Copper Cent given the die errors mentioned? If you think sending it to attribution and authenticity is necessary for verification, I would appreciate all your suggestions. Thank you. Hope to hear back from you.

The rare one is the 1982-D small date copper. Your is not a Denver mint coin.

I agree with Dr. Coop. Maybe a circulation hit or some other type of damage under 1982, but not a D.

Hi Mr. Coop. I know the rare one is the 1982 D Small Date Copper Cent. Basing it from your reply, the faded mm and statue are of no relevance for consideration due to die errors on this coin? Please bear with my inquiry.

Maybe the D fell off after gluing it on? Just a thought. Ok, a bad one at that.

It looks like a faded D, same as the statue missing on the reverse. Just wondering what caused this to happen? Nothing with the 3 die errors I've mentioned- over polished, Grease Filled Die or die abrasion? Can you please help me understand? @merclover, yep that's a bad one, it didn't help at all but sometimes we throw bad jokes for no reason at all

Not a Denver minted coin. That "mark" is in the wrong location for a mint mark. Reverse shows the statue and a nice die clash. All in all, a spender. John1

with John1 Don't waste your money sending in in to be verified. What you think is a D mm is in the wrong location to be a genuine 1982 D copper cent.

Thank you John1, JimmyD & ijn1944 for pointing the mm location out. I have fully disregarded it because I thought the die errors caused the fading. Yes, maybe Pareidolia too but it's still there#128579; Thank you for your help.
