Well I have two of the same ones and theb 8 is shaped like a B inland one of them is in near uncirculated condition

There are no 8's shaped like a "B" in 1968.
What you have is an 8 that has taken a slight hit on one side pushing the metal
over slightly distorting the number.
A larger clearer photo of the date would probably show this better

@jack, when I crop, enlarge, and enhance your pic, the number 8 looks relatively normal, although as noted a better pic might help. Thx.

A lot of Machine Doubling is seen on the 1968-1972 cents. But a closer view would be more help to us:
Note how closer images helps us see what is really there?
