Are the 2019 1oz silver walking liberty dollar coins supposed to have a mint mark? This one doesn't. Also there is a lump on the top of the shield and I was curious about what it is. Thanks *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

I'm not too sure of the mint mark question as I don't do ASE's. But the lump at the top of the shield is a die chip. If this was a variety that would be a nice die marker.

I'm with him! Looks like there were "W" West Point proofs and then a bullion with no mm but still minted at West Point. You would have the latter.

All bullion ASE have no mint mark. So bullion coins from 1986 to 2021 have no mint mark. Only numismatic ASE products (proof, burnished, reverse proof) have a mint mark.

I have often wondered, in the short time I have been on this forum, if anyone reads the previous posts, before posting. Time for a twizzler.... If you have to ask, then you don't get it.

I thought it was normal but I was unsure. This is actually the first time I have had one in my hand so I was interested and got excited so I asked here first but at the same time I was waiting I was looking it up so I figured it out and now I feel like an ignoramus. Sorry for the waisted time I took from you. Good night.

You shouldn't feel ignorant at all, ask away. By the way, the twizzler wasn't for you.

If your trying to say that we didn't read your answer, we did but you didn't answer it well. There are W and S numismatic products, those have mint marks. Bullion has been produced at San Francisco, West Point and Philadelphia and none of the Bullion products have mint marks. The numismatic products are not only proofs but burnished, reverse proofs, reversed enhanced proofs and regular proofs. The burnished are bullion with mint marks that the mint charges a premium for. If you had answered in more details instead of chewing on a twizzler several of us wouldn't have to clarify.

But I like my twizzler. Alright then, teach me, these are not my threngh and may have been out of line. The OP's coin, the 2019's, are they minted elsewhere? I may have read what I looked up wrong or didn't look deep enough.

If you are asking about just 2019, I really don't know if it they were only made in West Point, doesn't really matter as Bullion ASE have been made in 3 mints (West Point, San Francisco and Philadelphia), since they don't carry mint marks the only way to ever tell is to file a Freedom of Information Request, find the monster box they are in and have the TPG marked them as much, but as they are bullion, no should really care whether they are made at S, W or P, the US Mint can make them wherever they need to. Like I stated above your answer was lacking, several of us wanted to clarify your answer. This is what was produced in 2019 (minus the W- ERP), only the bullion has no mint mark.
