Yes definitely a cut from a sharp blade. You can see metal that has been pushed up on either side of the cut.

Yes, straight edge cut--perhaps a wide chisel strike.

Not a chisel issue, but a cut with a box knife or drywall cutter.
Maine-State-Quarter-Error?
When looking at this, you will note the bottom of the trench is flat and there will be moved metal on each side of the cut area.

It is too narrow to be a chisel mark and not bent like a chisel would damage the coin. Even a screwdriver would be many times larger than this affected area.

I figured a knife maybe but when you zoom in you can see the movement of the existing hair and letters are only moved on the left side. I pretty much knew it was PMD I just thought it was cool.. thanks guys
