1996 D Possible Strikethrough Wire - Coin Community Forum

yakbodidy New Member United States 11 Posts	Posted 09/11/2021 1:14 pm Found this one today I believe it to be a strikethrough wire around and through the date. The reason I think wire and not scratch is all three lines do not have any raised edges and they are full radius in bottom. Any thoughts welcome. It would have went right over them. Just coin scratches. On the last image you can see the wave of the move metal on the lowest area of that shot of the affected area. yakbodidy New Member United States 11 Posts	Posted 09/11/2021 5:00 pm Thank you for the reply. I will have to disagree on scratch as it is quite deep and not able to see zinc. Also there would be some type of grain with a scratch. The 3 lines are completely smooth with full radius in bottom. I can agree with the pressure applied after mint but would also ask why would it curve between two devices. Maybe someone tried making fake coin? Maybe wire had curve in it?
