A small broken piece on the die itself, that has left an incuse spot on the die, and therefore transferring it to each coin which would show a raised image. But then again, if you say this is on all of these 2019 Quarters (I'm not accustomed to these quarters) then maybe it is an issue with the Master Die. Report this Post to the Staff
Earle42 Bedrock of the Community United States 10034 Posts	Posted 09/14/2021 11:12 pm Sorry I do not remember the date, but there is a Jefferson nickel (in the 40s I think?) where, I think it is the S in TRUST has notching just like a doubled die would. When I found the first one years ago, I thought I had something and came to this forum. I searched and found tat anomaly had already been a topic, and this feature is on every one of that date/MM of nickel. The die was engraved that way. So is it an "error?" Well...yes and no. Was the original design with this feature? We don't know. Why would it be? Is the anomaly present only on some coins (like collectable DDO would be?). No. Does it bring a premium? While they appear to flow behind these incuse devices, they are actually on the surface of fields. The devices are below the surface, not raised. Report this Post to the Staff
