The side view looks like there is a nickel layer. If it is missing the nickel layer, it should be a little thinner.

Environmental toning/tarnishing/discolouration. Exposure to the elements will do this, or chemical reaction.

If it was missing the clad layers on both sides, the strike would be weaker.
That is just as stated, just environmental toning.

@sing, I agree that this is just surface toning, but a good way to confirm for yourself is to weigh this dime. If it is missing a clad layer, it will be underweight.

Note the red color on the reeds. If your coin was missing a cladding, it would be that color. It's just a metal detector find.
