Quote:I definitely think that the sudden increase of the "Sacagawea" coins minted in December 2008 were in fact 2009-dated business strike " Native American dollars". If that is true then in the near future we should see a downward correction in the mintage figures.

I'm normally not the one to shout "conspiracy" but the mint did run out of saq's before the end of 2008. I order a few rolls just the day before they were listed "sold out" on the US mint store. I really think they added the 2009's with the 2008's. Its a hopeful wish but it might not be right too..

The production figures shown on the Mint's website for the 2008 Sacagaweas are absolutely FALSE. The real mintage figure remains unchanged at ~1.8 million each. Unfortunately, the Mint already started producing the 2009 Native American dollars in December '08, and for whatever reason, decided not to count them separately from the '08 Sacs.

So .......in short.....the 08' Sac's ARE DEFINATELY a low mintage number then ?.... And I got my '08 Kennedy half order and my Sac order in early enough last year.............just wonder if that's good enough or if I should have ordered MORE ! Here's my order from my "order history" from the Mint.... 2008 SACAGAWEA GD 25-CN ROLL P -2- $35.95 $71.90 -2- units shipped on 06/09/2008 2008 SACAGAWEA GD 25-CN ROLL D -2- $35.95 $71.90 -2- units shipped on 06/09/2008 2008 KENNEDY HD TWO-ROLL P&D -1- $32.95 $32.95 -1- unit shipped on 06/09/2008 Maybe I should try to order a few more Kennedy's though ?Of course, thankfully, I do have all of these aforementioned coins in Proof Sets, Silver Proof Sets, Uncirculated Mint Sets, and the 2008 U.S. Mint Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Sets >>>(the six coin dollar set with an ASE in the center---this set has a "Sac" too).....It feels nice to have the whole gambit covered with these '08 Sac's then..... IN - Proof versions.... &Uncirculated Mint versions....(Sets) &NIFC Business Strike versions.... (rolls) In 11 years, how much will a "Proof" Sacagawea dollar coin be worth .....wish I knew !

rbf, how do you know the 1.8 million each on the SACs is correct versus the revised numbers the US Mint put up recently?

Oh great !...Wish we would hurry up and get this debate settled one way or the other !........I'd sure like to know ... Maybe we'll have to wait until they release the "final mintage numbers" for the 2009 Native American dollar.....and then see what they show for the 2008 Sacagawea Golden Dollar is officially listed in comparison. By then, at that time, any errors in numbers between this "same but different" coin would/should be noticed and corrected for certain

Daviscfad...
I checked here at the U.S. Mint website under Product Index - Items currently available, and it didn't say "No longer available" there as it does with other 2008 stuff. So, I thought one could still get them.

Wow....I'm REALLY glad I ordered 3 sets of the Kennedy's! Rec'd them last week and today they are GONE from the mint website. I think these will turn out to be a great investment. I suspect I could now sell them on ebay at nearly 2x what I paid.

BadThad.....daviscfad...... Quote: Eagle the 08 Kennedys are no longer available..
Nope.......NOT GONE OR TOO LATE TO ORDER THEM !I just ordered 2 more sets of the 2008 Kennedy P&D two roll sets and one set of the 2009. Also a 2009 proof Territorial Qtr. Set..... Notice on the order it says "IN STOCK".HERE'S MY "ORDER RECEIPT" THAT I COPIED AND PASTED FOR YA FOR EVIDENCE. Product Name Quantity Price (each) Total Availability Gift Box Product Ship Date 2008 Kennedy Half-Dollar Two-Roll Set (2D9) 2 $32.95 $65.90 In Stock N United States Mint 2009 District of Columbia & U.S. Territories Quarters Proof Set™ (Q09) 1 $14.95 - $14.95 In Stock N 2009 Kennedy Half-Dollar Two-Roll Set (2E9) 1 $32.95 $32.95 In Stock N Subtotal (w/o Shipping & Handling) $113.80 Shipping & Handling (includes any Gift Box charges) $4.95 Total Order $118.75 I placed this order just 30 seconds ago............. GO TO "PRODUCT INDEX" (3rd Page) LIKE I MENTIONED UP ABOVE. NOT "BAGS & ROLLS" WHERE THE KENNEDY '08'S USED TO BE FOR SALE....YOU CAN PLACE THE ORDER THERE.It's just that the Mint took the 2008 Kennedys down for sale from the "bags & rolls" area and put them in the "Product Index" area. This is true unless they will be sending me an email saying that my order cannot be filled for those. But they ARE there and YOU CAN order them and it DOES NOT say "no longer available".

They are on the 3rd page right at the very top (there are 6 or 7 pages of stuff) in the "Product Index". Having just ordered them from there, if they're not showing up on yours that way.....that's a mystery !

I know right it is a mystery when I click on product index I get 4 pages of stuff and I did not see the halves unless I use your link... I dont trust the no longer available chart b/c it does not show the 2008 sacs no longer available.. That is why I thought the kennedys were sold out b/c I could not and can still not find them on the mint website unless I use your link
