Some sort of disturbance around motto! Any one have any thoughts? Regards. Oh I angled one pic to eliminate stuff from glare.

The double light source on the image maybe enhancing something. See if you can remove one of the light sources? Note on the area below the roof. The lighting is making it look doubled from the dual light source. Image #5 is showing the light sources above and below on the design there. Light and shadows are removed by a dual light source.

Coop only one light sourse on and turned all other light sources in the room off! The one source was very low as it drives the image slightly negative.

It looks like the strike went through the copper plating on the planchet because very close examination shows zinc deposits at the bottom of the U's and top of the horizonal L as well. Shows green with lots of light. Seen this before on other coins especially at tops of USOA.

That sounds a lot like split plate doubling.

I agree with Spence, SOUNDS like a split plating issue, but I looked carefully, and don't see it. Appears to be a normal cent.

Great image. Yes. You can see the gray zinc showing through split plating. First time I've seen that area affected like that. Great job of getting better images. Now you know what to do to get the best out of what you have. You get an 'A' for the most improved images.

Note something you may have missed. Note the devices. Light color on the top darkening as they get closer to the fields. The MD may have caused the split plating on just one area. So the die must have been bouncing a lot on that strike. (affect the top row of the EPU and the second row is split the plating)
